  1. This allows you to setup a serial connection.

  3. Baud Rate allows you to set the communications speed you will be using.  You must be set to the same speed on both systems.  NOTE that speeds higher than 2400 baud are not recommended unless you have a buffered serial port.

  5. Connected To allows you to specify whether you are connecting to a modem or connecting directly with another computer with a NULL-modem cable.  You must specify Modem for the game to be able to dial or answer the phone.

  7. Automatic connection is the fastest way to get started. The game will automatically dial or answer the phone (if using a modem) and begin the game immediately without further action on your part.  NOTE that a HAYES-compatible modem is assumed by this option.

  9. Manual connection will allow you more control over the initial connection.  You will be provided with a limited-feature "terminal program", through which you can talk directly to your modem and/or the remote player before the start of the game.
